Model's Pay:
Model pay per DCCCD standards= 19.95+ per hour for experienced models, and 19.95 for inexperienced models, 3 hour minimum on most calls. If you have been working for the district continuously, without terming out, then this pay scale may vary.
El Centro and the Dallas County Community College system pays monthly only. ECC is using an all electronic time sheet system where you will need to enter your hours and submit the time sheet for approval.
Contact Omar Hernandez at ohernandez1@dcccd.edu for openings and an explanation of the basic process to get hired. Hiring on all jobs includes a mandatory Criminal Background Check, application packet, and an HR appointment ALL of which must be complete BEFORE we can book any model.
Models already "in system" may need to complete "re-hire" paperwork if they are current at another campus but have "termed out" with ECC because they have not worked for us at all for 3 continuous months.
No paid parking or transportation. See Comments section below.
Totally accessible (within 1 block) to DART West End train station along with both street bus stops and the West End Transfer Station. Most of our students ride DART. Unfortunately El Centro has NO dedicated "free" parking.
Artist's Cost:
Students do not pay for models, the department does. ECC Art adheres to the HR guidlelines for Art Model pay and hours.
When:
See session description above. Average number of bookings for any individual model within a semester is 6. Models are rotated in the main drawing classes to give the students a variety of figure-types to draw.

Models are usually booked by Omar Hernandez by teacher request. HR new hire paperwork and a CBC (good for 5 years in district) must be completed in advance before a model can be booked for any modeling sessions.

Comments:
We are open to remote-sessions and interested in how the figure modeling community is handling sessions at this time.
When working remotely, hours reported on time-sheets must be the actual hours spent preparing and setting up a remote session or creating specialized images for students to work from.

When modeling on campus:
El Centro College does not have dedicated parking for anyone. Whenever possible, we recommend that models use DART trains or buses to come into downtown. DART Day Passes are currently $5.00 and are good for 24 hours. This is less expensive and far less distracting than trying to find and feed a parking meter that has a 2 hour limit. Go to the DART website for current fare information and to choose the right type of ticket or pass.
The lots do not require constant attention, but prices are currently ranging from $5.00 to $10.00 with no in-an-out privileges.
The easiest and least expensive parking garage is on the Elm Street side of the campus next to the 7-11 at the corner of Austin and Elm. They charge $5.00 for the day and are open late.
Enter the campus at the Elm Street entrance and go left for the A building or to the right through the Student center to reach the C building. Additional directions are above. Use this entrance if you ride the train as well.
All prices we have listed are subject to change.
We do try to alleviate/compensate parking costs by adding an additional 30 minutes to confirmed and completed sessions.
